GOD IS JUSTICE

Justice is a part of God's character. Since God is holy, He cannot allow sin in His presence. As a result, He gave us the standard of holy living in which we need to follow. It is according to this holy standard of living that He judges the world. For example, when God created Adam, He told him not to eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil tree. The moment he would eat the forbidden fruit, he would surely die. Sadly, Adam disobeyed God; consequently, he suffered death as a consequence of his rebellion. No matter how much God loved Adam, He could not compromise His holiness and justice. God's justice has consequences. The consequence of obedience is life, and the consequence of sin is death.

When Adam rebelled against God, sin entered into the world; as a result, all humankind became sinners. All of us inherited the sinful nature that rebel against God's holy standard of living; consequently, we all received the penalty of death. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Jesus came to die for the consequences of our sin on the cross, so that we may live in Him. Jesus absorbed the judgment of God upon Himself on behalf of us because He loved us. We were hopeless in our sinful condition that God had to rescue us. God does not send people to hell. Hell is the consequence of sin, and God sent Jesus Christ to save us from going to hell.

Since we are all saved by the grace of God through our faith in the Lord Jesus, how should we live our lives? First, we always need to be thankful that God came to save us from God's judgment. Secondly, we need to live justly. In Micah 6:8, it says, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

Ask yourself these questions: If justice is a part of God's character, how should I live my life daily? What is my response to God's love by him dying on the cross on my behalf?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that you are holy and just. You judge the world according to your holiness, and I am thankful that you have sent Jesus Christ to die for my sin and save me. Thank you for loving me. Please continue to teach me to do justice and to love kindness, and walk humbly before you. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
