When the famine was severe, Jacob heard that there was food in Egypt, so he sent his ten sons to Egypt to buy food. He didn't let Benjamin, the youngest brother of Joseph, go for fear that bad things could happen to him, just like what happened to Joseph. When the ten sons of Jacob arrived in Egypt, Joseph recognized his brothers, but his brothers could not recognize him because he was about 37 years old at this time, and he could be wearing Egyptian clothes and clean-shaven. The last time he had seen his brother was when he was 17 years old, and they sold him to slavery. As his brother bowing down before him, Joseph remembered his dream when he was still young that his family would bow down to him. The dream that God had given to him was being fulfilled right in front of his eyes. (Genesis 42:9).
All these years, God has never forgotten His plan on Joseph's life. Joseph might have forgotten it, but not God. With everything that happened to Joseph, God used them to fulfill His plan in his life. There are times we feel that our lives are uncertain. We are confused and not sure where our lives are heading. However, God has a beautiful plan in our lives if we only surrender our lives to Him completely. It does not mean that we will not experience hardship, but God will use our difficulty to fulfill His plan in our lives. God had never abandoned Joseph, but He walked with Joseph through those difficult times because God's purpose in Joseph's life was to mold his character so that he could save Egypt and, ultimately, his family from severe famine.
It is difficult for us to know God's detailed plan in our lives because we cannot see the future, but as we walk with God and trust him daily, God will lead us to the right path. When we are discouraged or unsure of our future, let us looked up to God and trust Him. Let us not shut down or numb out, but let us keep on moving forward in trusting God. The circumstances that we are in right now are only temporary, and they will all come to pass, but God's plan in our lives is forever. God could certainly be using our current circumstances to mold our character so that He could fulfill His plan in our lives.
Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe that God has a beautiful plan in my life? Do I trust God with my life and future? What should I do with my current circumstances?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in heaven, thank you that you have a beautiful plan in my life. Please help me to trust and believe in you when I am doubting or struggling to believe. You know the condition of my heart. Please continue to change my heart that I may completely surrender my life to you. I want your plan to be fulfilled in my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
