GOD GIVES US VICTORY OVER OUR ENEMIES

Psalm 108:10-13 says, "Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom? Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies? Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. With God's help, we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes." The last section of Psalm 108 showed the complete dependence of David on God. David believed in his heart that all the battle victories that he won were the result of God's power working in Him. He defeated and conquered his enemies because God was enabling him. David said, "He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow (Psalm 18:34)." David always gave credit to God for his skills and strength in warfare, not his own natural ability. His enemies relied on their abilities, skills, horses, and weapons, but they lost because, when fighting against David, they were ultimately fighting against God, the creator of the Heavens and Earth.
Although we are not David, we have the same relationship with God. God is our protector and defense against our enemies. Our ultimate enemy is Satan and his demons (evil spirits). Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." Our conflicts aren't with other people (flesh and blood) but with evil spiritual forces. Satan and his evil spirits use their influence on the minds of people to destroy us. They use drugs, alcohol, materialism (luxuries), pleasures, pornography, apathy towards God, unbelief, the love of self, pride, rage, selfishness, greed, and the love of comfort to attack and destroy us. All the temptations we face are all designed to destroy us, and we can't fight them without God's help. The only solution that we have is mentioned in Ephesians 6:11, which says, "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."
Putting on God's armor means to rely on God's provision and strength in the face of spiritual evil. We need to rely on God completely through prayer and His word. We need to pray for those with whom we have conflicts for a change of hearts, and we need to pray for victory against our temptations.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who can give me victory over my enemies? What must I do to overcome the strategies of the evil forces? What does it mean to put on God's armor?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, you are my protector and defense against my enemies. Please help me to completely rely on you, and not on my own efforts, wisdom, and strength. Please guard my mind from evil thoughts and help me to overcome any temptations that I will face today. Please help me to choose your ways and trust in you completely. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
