Psalm 119:41-48 says, "Lord, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me. Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in your word. Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for your regulations are my only hope. I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever. I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed. How I delight in your commands! How I love them! I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees." When we are facing difficulties in life, we must remember God's promises. God has promised us that He loves us with His unfailing love, which brings us salvation. As the writer of this Psalm faced opposition, he drew near to God through His Word, relying on God's promises. God's promises became the source of His hope and inspiration. No matter how they taunted him, he trusted in God's Word; as a result, he loved and meditated on God's Word.

We need to read the Word of God daily so that we can be reminded of God's promises and instructions. The more we remember God's promises and instructions, the more we become stronger in our faith in God. As we face different challenges in life, we can stand on them and not be discouraged. For the past few days, I have been dealing with a difficult person who tried to use the soccer field that we had reserved for our youth soccer teams. I am not a confrontational person, but I have to deal with this person. As I pray for the situation, God uses this word to encourage me, "This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). God is speaking to my heart, telling me not to worry, because He will take care of it. My responsibility is to follow His directions and trust Him completely that He will take care of this issue.

When we allow God's promises to speak to us, it gives us hope, peace, and assurance. We can face any challenge in life, knowing that God can handle everything. We need to remember God's promises; as a result, we must spend time with His Word daily.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important for me to remember God's promises? How do I remember God's promises daily? Am I spending time reading my Bible daily?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for your Word that always reminds me of your promises. Your promises give me hope, peace, and assurance in the middle of my difficulties. Please give me the hunger to spend time with your Word that I may have the desire and love to read your Word daily. Thank you for your encouragement through your promises. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
