GOD AS OUR GUIDE

When Abram (Abraham) was 75 years old, God called him to leave his country and go to the place where He would make him a great nation and be an instrument to bless all the families of the earth (Genesis 12:1-4). In Hebrews 11:8, it says that "by faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going." Abraham obeyed God because he believed in God with all his heart that God would take care of him, even though he didn't know where God was leading him.

When a commercial ship set sail in the vast ocean, the vessel's captain has faith in his GPS or Compass that his navigational instruments will guide him to his destination. He does not have a road or highway that he can follow in the middle of the ocean, but his navigational instruments will guide him. In the same manner, Abraham followed God. God became his navigational instrument in the vast ocean of life. Abraham believed in his heart that God's way was the way to live his life. Abraham could not have listened to God since he was comfortable in his own country and surrounded by the support of his relatives. But Abraham believed in God thus obeyed God's direction.

As Christians, we need to believe in God and let Him guide us through this vast ocean of life. There are so many things that are going on in this world that make us worry about tomorrow. As we look around today, there is so much unrest caused by the pandemic, riots, and politics. However, God can help us navigate through this life if we are willing to follow His leading in our lives. God loves us so much that He wants to guide us in the right way. Daily reading of the Word of God and consistent prayer can help us discern God's direction in our lives.

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Ask yourself these questions: Why did Abraham obey God? Who can guide me through this vast ocean of life? Am I willing to let God guide me in the right direction?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for being my guide. Thank you that you care about me that you want me to follow your lead. Please help me to follow you and trust you completely every day. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
