GENDER IN MARRIAGE

Jesus described marriage to His disciples when He talked to them about divorce. He said, "But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female for this cause a man shall leave His Father and Mother, and the two shall become one flesh; consequently, they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:6-9). According to Jesus, marriage was created at the beginning of creation. God created Adam from the dust, and then He created Eve from one of Adam's ribs in the Garden of Eden. And then Joined Adam and Eve as one, and marriage was instituted (Genesis 2:1-25). In addition, God created Adam as male and Eve as female. God gave Adam male reproductive organs and masculine physique, and God gave Eve female reproductive organs and feminine physique. Both of them have distinct gender designs for reproduction. Eve was the only one who could bear a child because of the reproductive organs that God had given her. However, Eve could not bear a child without Adam's reproductive organs.

Genesis 1:27-28, "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'" God designs marriage for reproduction through families. When Adam and Eve had children, they became Father and Mother, and the expansion of families extended from them. A biblical marriage that God started is between a male and a female to start a family. No matter what the world thinks about gender in marriage, it cannot change the fact that God created males and females for marriage.

As believers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we must believe and accept His teaching about marriage through the Word of God. The Bible explicitly describes to us the required gender in marriage, so whatever we hear or see on social media or even the school teachers say about gender in marriage, we need to hold on to the biblical truth.

Ask yourself these questions: Who instituted or established marriage? What are the two genders in marriage? Do I accept and believe what the Bible says about gender in marriage?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, please help me to hold on to your truth about gender in marriage. I believe that in the beginning, you created male and female for marriage. Please help me to stand for what is right according to your Word. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
