FREE SALVATION

The Bible says that our salvation is free. The word free means "It does not cost anything." God has given us our salvation as a gift because of our faith in our Lord Jesus. We do not need to work for our salvation. We do not need to earn it. So how could this be? Well, it is free because we cannot afford it. Our good works are not good enough to earn our salvation because of our spiritual condition. Ephesians 2:1 says, "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." We were dead spiritually before we believed in our Lord Jesus. We died because of our sins. Romans 6:23 says that the wages or payment of sin is death. When we died spiritually, it was impossible for us to raise ourselves from our sins. No matter what we did, we were still in sin because we died in it. The only way for us to become spiritually alive again is for God to make us alive. We needed a savior who could make us alive.

Jesus died for the payment of our sins to make us spiritually alive. When God sent Jesus to us, it was to reveal our God the Father and save us from our sins. Since Jesus already paid the payment for our sins, we could only receive our salvation by believing in the Lord Jesus because He had done it all for us. By believing in the Lord Jesus alone is what makes us receive our salvation for free. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." Religions teach that we have to work out our salvation to be saved. We need to offer sacrifices and perform certain rituals to be saved from our sins, but not so with us. The Bible says that our salvation starts by believing in our Lord Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then after we believe in Him, we can start to do good because he will change our hearts by renewing our minds.

Let us be confident that our salvation is not based on what we have done but on what God has done for us. We are loved and pursued by our Lord Jesus. Let us be thankful today, and let us not doubt our salvation. God sacrificed His Son, Jesus, to give us our salvation for free because we could never earn it. We can only receive it through faith in our Lord Jesus.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Why is my salvation free? What did God do to make me spiritually alive? How can I receive my free salvation from God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, how great is your love for me? I was lost and dead in my sins, and I didn't have any means to make myself alive. But you sent Jesus to come to rescue me. Lord Jesus, thank you for paying the payment for my sins with your life to make me spiritually alive. Thank you for loving me so much. I praise and worship you for what you have done in my life. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
