Our Lord Jesus is always faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sin when we humble ourselves and confess our sins to Him. He is not a god that does not want to forgive. No matter what we have done, He is always willing to forgive us of our sins. The reason He can do it is that He died for our sins on the cross. The blood that He shed on the cross is more than sufficient to wash away any sin that we commit.
There was a son of a pastor who decided to rebel against His parents and God. Although His parents were godly and taught Him to follow our Lord Jesus, He chose to follow his own ways. At a very young age, He started smoking, drinking, and taking drugs with his friends. He went to church because his parents asked him to, but his heart was not there. His parents were sad about what he was doing, but they couldn’t do anything. So his parents kept on praying for Him to come back to God.
One night, as he was with his friends, they decided to commit a crime. All of a sudden, the Spirit of God started to speak in his heart not to go. So at the very last minute, he decided not to go with his friends. The following day, he learned that the police caught His friends. Since then, he decided to go back to God, but he was not sure if God would accept him back because of the things that He had done. As he was praying to God and asking Him to forgive Him, the Spirit of God reminded Him of the verse. If he confessed His sin to Jesus, God would be faithful and righteous to forgive his sin and cleansed him from all unrighteousness. He couldn’t believe that God was still willing to forgive him despite all the sins that He had done. After he confessed His sin to God, he felt forgiven and thankful that God had given him another chance to live in the right way.
In the same manner, we need to confess our sins to Jesus so that He can forgive us. We can go directly to Him because He is our High Priest. No matter where we are at or any time of the day, we can confess our sins to Him, and God will forgive us and cleanse us from all the unrighteousness that we have done. God wants to give us a brand new start in our life. Once we are forgiven, we need to follow God’s way. We do not need to go back to our sinful ways.
Ask yourself these questions: What can I do to be forgiven by God? What did Jesus do to forgive me of my sin? Why does God want to forgive me of my sin?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I confess all my sin to you, and please forgive me of my sins and help me to follow your ways. Thank you for forgiving me because of what Jesus had done on the cross. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
