For those of us who have been changed by God's grace through our faith in our Lord Jesus, we experienced the changes God had done in our lives. We were once broken by our sins and hopeless to change our lives. However, God's grace has brought us from the slimy pit, mud, and mire of this world, and He set our feet on a rock and gave us a firm place to stand. Through our faith in our Lord Jesus, He became the strong foundation we can rely on through the storms of life. The foundations of this world will eventually crumble, and those relying on the ways of the world will find themselves shattered without remedy. But for those of us who stand on Jesus, we will always be secure because God will always support us.
I met with a guy this morning to talk about ministry, but while we were talking, he shared his testimony with me. He was in the Marines for ten years and went to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban. When he got out of the Marines, he became an alcoholic and cheated on his wife. He eventually got divorced and became suicidal. He ended up in a psychiatric hospital. After he got out of the psychiatric hospital, he began to attend church. And it was during this time that God started to change his heart. God gave him a new heart that is full of hope. God healed his mind from PTSD and gave him a new purpose in life. His purpose in life now is to live for Christ and want to serve God for the rest of his life. His life is an example of Psalm 40:2. He was lost in his sins and lost everything, but when he committed his life to the Lord Jesus, God pulled him out of the slimy pit, mud, and mire of sins, and God set his feet on the firm foundation, which is our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Lord Jesus is our strong foundation if we surrender our lives to Him. We will never lose hope because we stand on a firm foundation. Let us continue to trust and rely on our Lord Jesus because He loves and cares for us.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Describe how God changed your life. Who is my strong foundation? How can I make Jesus my strong foundation?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I surrender my life to you and believe in the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I acknowledge that I am a sinner and in need of your forgiveness. Please change my life and make me a new person in you. Please save me from the slimy pit, mud, and mire of the sins of this world, and set my feet on a rock and give me a firm place to stand in Christ Jesus. Thank you for answering my prayers. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
