DRAWING NEAR TO GOD

We can always approach our Holy God with confidence because we have a great High Priest, Jesus Christ. He is always available for us, no matter what situations we are in. Unlike any human priest, Jesus never gets tired of helping and forgiving our sins. He sees our fears, struggles, and pain. There is nothing that we can hide from Him. Everything that we do He sees. He also understands what is in our hearts. Actually, He knows us more than we know ourselves. He is the God that knows everything about us. So when we approach Him in our prayers, He knows and understands exactly what is going in our lives.

There is a man who has a dog that does not want to be alone. Every time he goes to work, his dog becomes very nervous and lonely. So, the dog will find something to chew and make a big mess in the apartment. He will get newspapers and just bite on them and tear them into pieces. One day, the owner got home and found that his apartment was in a big mess. His dog got into a pile of newspapers and magazines and tore them into pieces. The owner was very disappointed with his dog, and he disciplined him. Despite what his dog had done, He still loved his dog. In the same manner, the dog knew that His master still loved Him.

Just like the dog, we do things that are not pleasing to God, but we always need to remind ourselves that God is a forgiving and loving God. It is because of our sin that He died on the cross. His forgiveness does not encourage us to sin, but it encourages us to obey Him. When God forgives our sin, He chooses not to remember them anymore. He will not use our past sin to condemn us. When He forgives us, He forgives us completely.

Ask yourself these questions: Why should I have confidence in drawing near to God? Does Jesus get tired of listening to me? Why does God forgive me?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for forgiving me of my sin through your Son, Jesus. Thank you for your love and patience towards me. Please forgive me for all the sins that I have done, and help me to obey you. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
