CREATED IN GOD'S IMAGE

What does it mean to be created in God's image? Humankind is the only God's creation made in His image, which is why we are the crown jewel of His creation, the pinnacle of His creation. The word "image" means to be like or to resemble the original. Being created in God's image means that God put His attributes and nature in us. As a result, we can relate with him in life, holiness, and wisdom. We are the only creatures that can relate to Him in a very personal way. In the beginning, God was talking to Adam face to face in His very presence in the Garden of Eden. God created the world for us to enjoy and to take care of. He made us to enjoy His presence without sin and death. He created us to fellowship with Him in His love. Since He is the one who created us, He knows everything about us. He knows our personalities, strength, weaknesses, thought processes, feelings, and emotions. He knows every intricate part of our physical bodies. There is nothing in us that He doesn't know.

However, when Adam sinned, sin entered the world, and we lost our identity as God's image. We have lost the sense of being created in God's image. In school, we are not taught that we are created in God's image, but we came from apes through the evolutionary process. As a result, we have forgotten that God has made us for something more. God did not create us for this world, but that God created the world for us. We ended up valuing this world more than God. The ways and the thinking of this world became the standard on which we based how we should live our lives, instead of basing our living standard in God's ways.

God is renewing our minds today, and He uses His Word (the Bible) to help us understand that we are created special. We are important to God no matter what the world says. God loves us because He intimately created us for Himself. God proved how much He loves by sacrificing His only Son, Jesus Christ, for us. The cross is the evidence of how much God loves us. Jesus did not die for the physical world and the animals. He died for us because we are created in His image. Be encouraged today that God loves us, and He created us for something more in this world.

Ask yourself these questions: What does it mean to be created in God's image? Why did God create me? Do I believe that God loves me?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for creating me in your image. Thank you for creating me for something more than the things of this world. Please continue to teach me to understand what it means to be created in your image. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
