God has given us the Bible, His Word, to show us the ways of God and instruct us on how we should live as believers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 1:22-25 says, "But don't just listen to God's word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don't obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it." Every time we expose ourselves to God's Word, whether that would be listening to a sermon in the church, over the radio, on our daily devotion, or daily Bible reading, we must apply them in our lives, else they will not change our hearts.
Through the Word of God, we learned our true identity in our Lord Jesus Christ. We learned that we are God's children and that our Heavenly Father loves us. As a result, we can trust the hands of our Heavenly Father to take care of us and provide everything that we need. However, if we do not do what the Word of God says, we will forget that we are God's children, and when the storm of life comes, we will not be able to stand to the truths of God, and we will crumble down. When temptations come our way, we will easily give in and fall. But if we do what the Word of God says, we will be blessed on whatever we do. We will be walking on who we are in Christ Jesus. We will not be easily persuaded by the lies and trickery of Satan.
So let us remember the Word of God and apply them in our lives. We can start by meditating on the Word of God that we heard from yesterday, or if we didn't go to church yesterday, meditate on the Scripture verse for today. When we start to become a doer of God's Word, we will begin to change, and our life will be blessed and become stable.
Ask yourself these questions: What verse in the Bible that I heard recently? What lesson can I apply in my life? Is there anything that God wants me to do today from His Word?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, you mentioned in your Word that whoever applies your Word will be blessed in all of his ways. He is like a tree planted by the stream of water, and his leaves will never wither. Would you please help me to apply Your Word in my life? May I not be just a listener of Your Word but be a doer of Your Word. Please give me the passion for hearing, listening, and obeying your precious Word. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
