BE READY

Since the return of our Lord Jesus is imminent or it is bound to happen, what is God's expectations for us in living our lives daily as we wait for His return? There is a story that Jesus told his disciples in instructing them on how they should live their lives as they wait for His return. He said that there was a master who appointed one of his servants to take care of his household while he was gone. But when the master left, the servant thought in himself that his master would be gone for a long time, so he decided to do whatever he wanted. He started drinking, partying, and beating the other slaves in the house. All of a sudden, without warning, his master returned. The master found out what his servant was doing, and he punished him severely.

The lesson that Jesus was teaching his disciples through the story was that he wanted his disciples to continue to do what He commanded them to do, while He was away preparing a place for them. There would be a time when Jesus would return for them, and those who were not ready would be judged, but those who would be prepared would be rewarded.

In the same manner, our Lord Jesus is expecting us to do what God is calling us to do as we wait for His return. Our Lord Jesus can come at any time, and he will come at a time when no one is expecting. God rewards those whom He will find obeying and serving Him faithfully when he returns. I want to encourage all of us to not get tired and weary in obeying and serving our Lord. If we want God to bless our lives, then we need to be faithful in the Lord regardless of what is going on around us. Let us not give in to those that are not pleasing to Him. Can you imagine if we are doing something wrong, and our Lord returns at that moment? It will be the most uncomfortable feeling that we will experience, just like the servant must have felt when his mater returned unexpectedly.

Ask yourself this question: what are the things that you need to do to prepare yourself in our Lord’s return?

Write down the problems that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that heaven is real. Thank you that you are coming back for me. As I wait for your return, please help me to obey and serve you faithfully. Please help me to say no to those that are not pleasing to you. I want to be faithful to you, so please help me. May you help me now with my (mention your prayer requests). In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
