A NEW CREATION

The moment we became God’s children because of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we became a new person. Our Father in heaven has transferred us from our old life to a new life in Him. We are no longer a slave to sin, but a slave to the righteousness of God. God started to change us to be the person that He wants us to be. He gave us a new heart and a new beginning of life—a life with a purpose, and not a life of uncertainty.

One of the most beautiful creations of God is a butterfly. Its wings have different shapes with vivid colors, and they are beautiful to see hovering over the landscape of flowers. But before the butterfly transforms into a beautiful flying creature, it is a caterpillar that crawls very slow on the ground. Then when it is ready to become a beautiful butterfly, it wraps itself into a cocoon. While the caterpillar is in a cocoon, it is dissolving all its tissues and turning them into a liquid, like a soup. This is when the caterpillar dies, and then out of a miracle, the liquid starts to form its body, legs, and wings. In due time, the caterpillar comes out of its cocoon and becomes a new creation. It has been resurrected from a dead caterpillar to a new beautiful butterfly.

Similarly, we are like the caterpillar that turns into a beautiful butterfly. We were once lost in our sin and had no relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We were all slaves to sin, but when Jesus saved us from our sin through our faith in Him, we died to our sin and became a new person in the Lord Jesus Christ. We became His children and gave us a new life. We were born again. We are no longer hopeless and helpless, but we have now hope and a bright future in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now that we have a new life in God, what are the things that you can ask God to help you grow in your new life? Write down your prayer request for today and ask God for help on each one of them.

Thank the Lord for giving you a new life in Him.

Our Heavenly Father, thank you for this new life that you have given me. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin and being resurrected from the dead so that I can have a new life. Thank you for the new hope and a bright future that you have for me. Please help me to live a new life in you and continue to grow in my relationship with you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
