What does it mean to be adopted by God? It means that God accepted us to become His children; we became part of His family. When we received Jesus in our hearts, God has given us the right to become His children. Here's an illustration, I have a friend that grew up in a very harmful family. His father left his mother when he was still a baby, and his mother became a drug addict. His mother couldn't take care of him, so the Child Protective Services took my friend away from his mother and put him on a foster care. Eventually, a wonderful Christian family adopted Him when he was eight years old. Since then, his adopted Christian family took care of Him. They provided for his food, clothing, schooling, and safety. They loved my friend as their own child. My friend is now going to UT Arlington, pursuing Architectural engineering. He was very thankful and blessed that He has a wonderful mother and father that love Him.
In the same situation, when God adopted us, our God became our Father. As a result, God became a part of us. He takes care of us and provides for all of our needs. Our heavenly Father is much better and greater than our earthly parents. Our parents are limited by what they can provide for us, but our God is not limited. Everything that we have right now is all provided by our heavenly Father. The place that we are staying, the clothing that we wear, the food that we eat, the water that we drink, and the air that we breath are all God's provisions.
So let us not be afraid or worried about our situations right now because we have a heavenly Father that always watches over us. We may feel that He is distant from us, but He is always as close as our prayers. He always listens to our prayers because He loves us.
List down your concerns today, and lift them up to God. When you pray, you always need to picture God as your personal heavenly Father who loves and cares about you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father , thank you for adopting me as your child even though I do not deserve it because of my sin. You accepted me into your family because you love me. Please help me now to live according to your will since I am your child. Help me to trust you that you are always with me no matter what I am going through. I pray for (mention your prayer request). In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
