THE PROBLEM OF SIN

When God created Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they were perfect without sin. God gave them freedom of choice to obey and disobey Him because God wanted to be worshipped and obeyed freely. However, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered their hearts, and they never be the same again. The human race entered into sin and death because the result of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Sin affects everything who we are. It affects our desires, wants, and needs. Our desires become self-centered instead of God's-centered. We prefer to follow our sinful desires instead of Godly desires. Disobedience and rebellion are within us. The good things that we want to do, we don't do, and the things that we don't want to do, those things we do. The apostle Paul experienced the same thing (Romans 7:14-24). We became trapped in the sinful cycle of this world.

The governments try to curb crime with social programs and imprisonment but to no avail. The reason is that the problem is the hearts of human beings. The heart has to change. The heart, which refers to our soul, needs to change. The spirit of humankind needs to change. People need a new spirit to be saved from sin. The new spirit can only come from God, and the new spirit can only be attained by anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. As we receive the new spirit, our hearts (souls) begin to change. If we want to have a better world or to help curb crime, we, as believers of our Lord Jesus, need to share our faith with others so that the lives of others will be changed.

It is time for us not to be timid in our faith in the Lord because God has given us the answer to sin. If we want our lives and families to change, we need to follow God's ways. We need to live it out so that those around us will be affected by it. Let us keep on sharing and showing our faith to our loved ones and others.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). What causes crime in this world? What is the solution to the sins of this world? What is my responsibility as a believer in regard to the sin and crime of this world?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I am saved from my sins because of what my Lord Jesus had done on the cross for me. He died for my sins to save me. Would you please help me to live out and share my faith with my loved ones and others so that they may have a chance to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved? Thank you for saving me and giving me a new spirit and in constant work of changing my heart. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
