David wrote a praise song to the Lord in Psalm 30:1-3. He wrote, "I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death." David praised the Lord when he recounted all the goodness that God had shown him. God rescued him and gave him victory over his enemies. God healed him when he was sick. God protected him from death. David continued to remember God's goodness in his life. He wrote, "Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning (Psalm 30:4-5)." When God disciplined him because of his rebellion, God's anger only lasted for a moment, but God's goodness to David was a lifetime. He may suffer a little bit because of God's discipline, but God's restorations come with a new day.
Remembering God's goodness leads us to praise Him. If God is faithful to us in the past, He will surely be faithful to us today and in the future. We need to remember God's goodness in our lives because it reminds us that God is for us and not against us. If God has healed us in the past, God can heal us today. If God has provided everything we needed in the past, God can certainly provide everything we need today. If God has forgiven our past sins, God can forgive our sins today. If God disciplines us because of our rebellion, his anger towards us is brief. His goal is to restore us and lead us back to the right relationship with Him. We may suffer today, but God brings joy and peace tomorrow. David concluded this Psalm by saying, "You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever! (Psalm 30:11-12)"
Let us remember God's goodness today that may lead us to praise Him and strengthen our faith in Him. God is faithful to us. He is always for us and not against us. He is the giver of blessing and restorer of our faith.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). What can I remember of God's goodness in my life? Why is it important for me to remember God's goodness in my life? What should be my response to God's goodness in my life?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
