The body is the material part of our being. Our bodies cannot become alive without our souls and spirits, which are the non-material parts of our being. Today, we are going to talk about our souls. Our souls represent our minds, will, and emotions. We have feelings because of our souls. Any of our behaviors and attitudes are all part of our souls. Our brains and five senses, such as touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing, work with our souls. When we are tempted to sin, it is our souls that are being affected. When Adam and Eve were tempted in the Garden of Eden to eat the forbidden fruit, it was their will that was being tested. Our souls will never die. Our earthly bodies will cease to exist and will go back to dust, but our souls will live forever. God made it this way so that we can have a chance to be with Him forever in Heaven.Â
Â
When Adam disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, sin entered into the world, and it affected our souls. Our souls become corrupt and marred with sin. Our souls' desires become self-centered instead of God's-centered. As a result, our souls were separated from God and reaped the consequences of God's judgment. Our Lord Jesus Christ had to die on the cross to save our souls through genuine faith in Him. 1 Peter 1:8-9 says, "You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls." Any souls that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will be with God forever in Heaven, and any souls that reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will be judged in the lake of fire forever (Revelation 20:15).Â
Â
God gave us the soul so that we can have the ability to love and choose. It is our souls that give us mind, will, and emotions. We can think, feel, and enjoy life because of our souls. May we not only honor God with our bodies, but with our souls as well.Â
Â
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). What does my soul comprise? How can my soul be saved? How do I honor God with my soul?Â
Â
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Â
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for giving me my soul so that I can relate with you emotionally and mentally. I would never understand love, forgiveness, and grace without my soul. Please help me to honor you with my soul. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.Â
