God's love towards us compels us to love others. As we get to know our Heavenly Father, we are going to love others naturally. Love is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which means that as we grow in our relationship with our Heavenly Father, we begin to love others. Just like a healthy fruit tree, it produces its fruits naturally. As God's love works in us, it flows through us so that those who do not know Him will know His love. 1 John 4:8 says, "whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love." So how do we show God's love to others? There are two prominent things that we can do to show God's love to others. First, we show God's love through our actions. When we offer kindness to others, even to those we do not know, we are scattering God's love on others. Our action speaks louder than what we say, do, and believe. 1 John 3:18 says, "Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions."
Secondly, we show love through our lips. Saying things like, "I love you," "I care about you," or "I appreciate you," can scatter God's love to those around us. Our tongue can bless and curse others. Many people have been emotionally impaired because of tongue. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." If we want to be the channel of God's love, our words and actions must exemplify God's love around us.
As we face our day today, we need to remind ourselves that God loves us, and God wants us to be a channel of His love in this desperate world. There is already so much hate and dissension around us that we need to scatter more of God's love. God's love is what this world needs, for God's love can bring healing and peace to our souls.
Ask yourself these questions: Since God loves me, how does God want me to live my life around others? Am I willing to be a channel of God's love? What things do I need to change in my heart in order for me to become a channel of God's love?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, Thank you for loving me, and as I grow in your love, may I be a channel of your love in this desperate world. May my actions and words demonstrate your love that the people around me may know your healing love. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
