GOD IS THE BLESSER OF MY JOB AND FAMILY

Psalm 128:1-4 says, "How joyful are those who fear the Lord—all who follow his ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be! Your wife will be like a fruitful grapevine, flourishing within your home. Your children will be like vigorous young olive trees as they sit around your table. That is the Lord's blessing for those who fear him." The source of God's blessings comes from showing reverence and obedience to Him. The word "fear" means to revere, worship, or give deep respect to God. In other words, those who show respect and obedience to God will receive His blessings. We show respect to God by trusting in Him and not allowing sin to reign in our hearts. Anything that the Bible calls sin, we walk away from. We don't live in sin, but we obey God's Word. If we find ourselves walking in sin, we must repent and do the right thing. Those who respect and follow God will receive blessings for their work and families.

Many want to have a blessed job and family. However, they are trying to get these things through the worldly way. Many will cheat and not be honest at work just to get promoted at their jobs or earn more money. In regard to family, they fill their family time with entertainment and the material things of this world. God will not bless worldly ways in our lives. The only way we can experience God's blessings in our lives is when we respect God in everything that we do and obey Him in every area of our lives. Obedience means to follow God even when we give up our pride. If God wants us to forgive those who hurt us, we must forgive them not only in our mouths, but it must show in our actions. We cannot say we respect and obey God when we are not willing to do what He is telling us to do. There are times when God prompts us to take action, and though it may be challenging, we should not allow that difficulty to prevent us from allowing Him to work in our hearts and transform us to do the right thing.

God blesses our jobs and family when we respect and obey Him. We should encourage our family members to respect and obey God so that His blessings will be upon us. 

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who is the source of blessings for my job and family? What must I do for God to bless my job and family? Why is it important to continue to encourage my family to respect and obey God? 

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me this morning that you are the source of blessings for my job and family. Please help me to respect you in everything that I do and to obey you in every area of my life. I pray for each member of my family that they may respect and obey you. May you continue to work in our hearts to change us to be the people that you want us to be. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
