We all heard and watched on the news about the assassination attempt on former president Trump. I was shocked and very concerned about what just happened, but the Lord reminded me that He was in control of our existence in this world. It was God's intervention that former president Trump is still alive today. The bullet that grazed his right ear was an inch away from hitting the back of his head, and that could have been fatal if the bullet hit his head. Some of the newscasters said that the only thing that could have saved him was when he turned his head to look at the presentation on the screen. As he turned his head on the screen, the bullet grazed his right ear. Some people call this luck, but I call it a miracle act of God because He is in control of whatever is happening in this country and the world. Our God is the only one who can give and take away life. When God decides that our time is up, nothing can stop Him, and we will give an account of how we spend our time in this world before Him. Â
Â
When we see the violence around us and the division in this country, let us remember that God is our ultimate hope. It is not the government, the president, the Congress, the Senate, or any political party that will give us peace and assurance. God is our ultimate security and hope. There is nothing that can happen to us without going through the hand of our God. No evil can stand against our God; as a result, His purpose and plan will prevail in our lives. We are still alive today because God wills it, so let us count our days and be thankful for our lives. Every day is a gift from God. Let us live for God and put our hope and trust in Him. Jesus says this in Matthew 10:28, "Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Former president Trump is still alive today because God preserved his life from the assassination attempt. His story should remind us that God is in control.
Â
We have everlasting hope because our lives are in the hands of our loving God. He is our security. God is the only one who can preserve our lives, so let us put our ultimate hope and security in Him.

Questions for application:Â (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.)Â Where can I find my ultimate hope and security? How should I live my life knowing that God is in control of my existence in this world? What lesson can I learn from this devotion?
Â
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Â
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, although this world is unpredictable and full of violence, I put my hope and security in You. Thank you that You are in control, and there is nothing that can happen to me without going through Your hands. Thank you for taking care of me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
