GOD IS MY VICTORY

The men of faith in the Old Testament defeated their enemies because God fought for them. God brought victory to them. For example, Gideon and his 300 soldiers defeated thousands of soldiers in one day (Judges 6). David defeated Goliath, who was stronger than him (1 Samuel 17:42-52). David and his armies defeated the Philistines even though they were outnumbered. Psalm 44:2-3 says, "With your (God) hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors; you crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish. It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them." The men of faith in the Old Testament won their battles because of God's interventions. The Psalmist continued to say in Psalm 44:6-8, "I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever."

We need to remember that God is the one who gives victories in our lives. He is the one who can bless the works of our hands. Our personal struggles can only be won through our Lord Jesus Christ. Of all the sins that we struggle with, God is the only one who can give us victory over them. If we are having difficulty at work for whatever reason, God can give us strength and victory over them. If we are struggling financially, God can provide everything that we need. If we are sick and weak, God can heal us or give us the strength to go through it. There is nothing that God cannot do for us. However, we will continue to learn from this Psalm that God does things according to His purpose and plan.

Let us trust in the Lord and lean on His strength. God is the one who gives us the victories. In the midst of our problems, we have to remind ourselves that God is the one who will resolve our problems. Rest in our God today. Relax in His power and might. Walk by faith and not by sight.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Who can give me victory over my struggles? Do I believe that God can bring victory in my life? How should I live my life if I believe that God can bring victory in my life?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you give victory in my life. I acknowledge that there is nothing impossible for you. Please help me to believe and trust in you. With everything that is going on in my life right now, please help me rest in you, believing that you take care of me and bring victory over all my struggles. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
