COME CLOSE TO GOD

God longs for us to come close to Him, and this is why our Lord Jesus died on the cross so that He could wipe our sins away that separate us from Him. No matter what we have done in the past, they are forgiven, and God will never remember them. Hebrews 8:12 says, "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." There are times that it is difficult for us to forgive someone who hurt us because we remember what they had done to us, but it is not so with God. God doesn't deal with our offenses the way we deal with our offenses. James 4:10 says, "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up." When we humble ourselves to God, He accepts us back gladly. God does not have grudges but has abundant mercy and love. Psalm 103:8 says, "The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love."

When we sin against God, we need to remind ourselves that God is forgiving and merciful. Running away or hiding from God is not how we handle sin in our lives. James 4:8 says, "Come close to God and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and make your hearts pure, you double-minded." No matter how we messed up, there is always forgiveness and acceptance in our Lord Jesus. When we doubt His forgiveness, let us look at the cross. His death on the cross is more than sufficient to wash away our sins. When our past sins try to put guilt and shame in our hearts and minds, and we have already asked God to forgive those past sins, we need to remind ourselves that God has forgiven us.

There is so much freedom in our Lord Jesus when we come close to Him. We do not need to carry the burden of our sin. Let us humble ourselves before Him and ask for forgiveness. Let the grace and mercy of God take away our sins and live in righteousness before Him.

Ask yourself these questions: Have I confessed my sins and asked God for forgiveness? Do I believe that God has forgiven all the sins that I have committed? What should I do when I sin?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that there is always forgiveness in you. I am so thankful that You are a God full of mercy and love. Please forgive all my sins and help me not live in guilt and shame anymore. May I always humble myself to you and come close to you always. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
