WARNING AGAINST THE OPPRESSOR

We live in a world today driven by materialism and power. An ex-convict told Fox News the reason many young people are committing crimes today, such as carjacking, robbery, smash-and-grab, selling drugs, etc., is that they are hungry for power and fame. They want to prove that they are tough and can get whatever makes them famous. Interestingly enough, many people in positions of high power are doing the same thing. They would push agendas to keep them in power and prosperous instead of serving the people they should serve. The people in power are becoming more affluent, but others are struggling. However, there will be a day that God will judge the oppressors. James 5:1,5-6, "Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you...You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you."

As believers, how should we live out our faith in the Lord in this world of corruption and crime? First, we need to put God as the main priority in our hearts. We need to resolve within ourselves that we are not going to participate in the ungodly ways of this world. Secondly, we need to walk by faith that God is our ultimate provider. It is easy to be influenced by the ways of the world to trust in our own ways and possessions and set aside God. Let God be our contentment and not the materialistic of this world. The more we rely on God in every area of our life, the more we will have peace of mind and hearts. Lastly, we need to influence the world around us with the light of Christ. We need to tell them the ways of God and the gospel that can change their lives. The youth and the people in position are lost in their sin, and they need to receive the truth of Christ to be saved.

We need to remind ourselves every day that we are no longer living for ourselves, but for our God, for He has saved us from this world. In the end, God will judge the wicked and bless the righteous in His presence.

Ask yourself these questions: How should I live my faith in God in this corrupt world? Who should I completely trust to provide for my needs? What does God is going to do with the wicked in the end?

Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, would you please help me to live for you day by day and protect me from giving in to the temptations of this world? Please help me to trust in you in everything that I need and give me boldness to share your truth and the gospel with those around me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
