THE TWO GATES OF LIFE

In this verse, the gates refer to the entrance to life and the entrance to destruction. The wide gate is the worldly ways of this world, and many people choose to walk through it because of the power, money, pleasures, and worldly successes it offers. However, in the end, it will only lead to destruction because they are all temporary. Jesus said that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Although bread signifies food to nourish our body and satisfy our hunger, it is not enough to sustain our lives. The bread can feed our hunger, but it can never sustain our spiritual needs, which is more important. Our body will eventually go back to dust when we die, but our spirit lives on, whether in heaven or hell.

There is only one entrance that can give us satisfaction in life. That entrance is the narrow gate, which is the way to God. It is a narrow gate because only one person can enter at a time. Every person has to go through our Lord Jesus. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me." Only those who believe in the Lord Jesus can enter the narrow entrance. This narrow entrance leads us to the blessings of God, salvation, hope, joy, peace, and eternal life.

Let us continue to choose to stay in God's way. The pleasures and the worldly ways of this world can never satisfy us. They may give us a brief moment of excitement or a sense of control and peace, but it doesn't last. Satan will try to lure us to thinking that the ways of the world are better and exciting, but the truth is that the world can only lead us to destruction. We need to walk in God's way to find the blessings of God in our lives, salvation, hope, joy, peace, and eternal life.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I walking on the road that leads to life? What do I need to do when I am tempted to walk in the road that leads to destruction?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for reminding me today that your way is the way to life. Please help me never to walk away from your ways. Please Help me always to choose your path over the path of this world. If Satan is tempting me to walk in the wrong way, please help me not give in and walk in your ways. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
