THE TRUE LIVING GOD

Psalm 115:1-5 says, "Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Why let the nations say, 'Where is their God?' Our God is in the heavens, and He does as He wishes. Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see." When the Israelites became a nation in their land, they were surrounded by their enemies, who worshipped many gods or idols. Their enemies worshipped idols made of silver and gold, yet their idols couldn't speak, hear, or see. Unlike our God, who is in heaven, He can do whatever He wishes. He created everything in the universe, and He created us according to His image. The writer of this Psalm encouraged his people to trust in their God. He wrote, "O Israel, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield. O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield (Psalm 115:9-10)."
Today, there are millions of gods in this world, depending on where you are in this world. It seems every culture has its own idols that people worship. If you go to Thailand and India, you will see many shrines for the different idols that they worship. But regardless of how many idols in this world, there is only one God, who created the heavens, earth, and everything in it. There are many people today who believe that all gods lead to the true God. However, this belief is not biblical at all. The Bible says that there is only one Savior who can forgive sins. Jesus says in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." There is only one Savior in the world, and that is our Lord Jesus. We cannot have a relationship with our God the Father without believing in the Lord Jesus, for He died and resurrected for our sins.
God is reminding us today that He is the God who can hear, see, and understand what we are going through. His love for us never fails, and His faithfulness to be with us is eternal. Let us continue to trust our God for He is our helper and protector.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Do I believe that there is only one True God? How can I have a relationship with Him? Do I trust God for my needs and problems?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, you are the true, living God. There is no other God besides You, and the only way to have a relationship with You is through faith in my Lord Jesus. I am forgiven of my sins because my Lord Jesus died and resurrected for my sins. Thank you for opening my eyes to see your truth. I trust you, for you are my helper and protector. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
