THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS OVER OUR LIVES

Romans 10:9 says, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." The above verse instructs us on how we can be saved from our sins and receive eternal life through our Lord Jesus. Without declaring, confessing, or saying in our mouths that Jesus is Lord, we will never be saved. We must declare from our hearts that Jesus is Lord over our lives. The word "Lord" means master or ruler over his people. When we declare Jesus as our Lord, He becomes our Master and Ruler in every area of our lives. It means that we must live our lives according to the way He wants us to live our lives. It is not an option for us to obey Him, but it is mandatory. As a result, standing up for our faith is a requirement, no matter what the consequences. Galatians 2:20 says, "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

True believers believe that Jesus is not only their Savior but also the Lord of their lives. Many professing Christians are not saved because they only believe in Jesus as their Savior, but not Lord. They only want God to help them with their needs, heal them from their sickness, forgive their sins, and receive His blessings, but they do not want to surrender their lives to our Lord Jesus. They are not willing to change their sinful ways. John 3:19 says, "And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil." For us as true believers, we live for God because we believe that Jesus is our Lord. He is the one that we follow and obey because He is the Lord of our lives. We show kindness to others because our Lord Jesus is our Lord. We forgive those who offended us because Jesus is our Lord. We stand for our faith because Jesus is our Lord.

When we believe in Jesus as our Lord, it does not mean that we will never sin. It means that we are sincere in our hearts that Jesus is our Lord, and we are allowing God to change our hearts so that we can obey Him as our Lord.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What does it mean to declare Jesus as my Lord? Why is it important to declare from my heart that Jesus is my Lord? How can I demonstrate in my life so that others may see that Jesus is my Lord?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die for my sins to save me. I declare from my heart that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. Please continue to change my heart so that I may live for my Lord Jesus, for I am no longer living for myself but for Him. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
