THE IMPORTANCE OF FELLOWSHIP

All the believers not only devote themselves to the teaching of the Word of God but also to fellowship. What is the importance of fellowship? Fellowship means to be with other believers for encouragement, support, and enjoyment. God created all of us for relationships and not for isolation. When the believers were overwhelmed with fear because of the death of our Lord Jesus, they gathered together to encourage and support one another. They ate together and supported each other. One of the reasons the believers were able to know and understand the needs of others was because they were in fellowship. They became one family of believers. The believers knew that if they were going to survive the persecution from the religious leaders, they must stand together as one, and they couldn't stand together without fellowship.

As a believer, God commanded us not to neglect fellowship. Hebrews 10:25 says, "Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near." One of the reasons many believers are not walking in the Lord or their hearts are not closed to God is that they stop going to fellowship. Listening to Christian music and sermon on the internet or TV is not enough for encouragement. God created us to engage with others in person. If we are in fellowship, we can learn from other believers and are encouraged to keep trusting and walking in the Lord because God uses fellowship to encourage us.

Let us continue to be in the fellowship of believers. It is important in our relationship with the Lord. We cannot grow in our relationship with God without fellowship. We need each other, and God knows it. If you have not been in fellowship, I encourage you to go to fellowship. If you don't have one, pray that God will lead you to a church that has a good fellowship. Do not let business and laziness stop you from going to fellowship. Make time and every effort to go because your spiritual maturity depends on it.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering these questions, and let the Spirit of God speaks to you) Why do I need fellowship? Am I neglecting to go to the fellowship? Why? Can I grow in my relationship with God without fellowship?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me of the importance of fellowship today. Please forgive me if I have not prioritized going to fellowship. You know everything that is going on in my life, and I need your encouragement and support. Please help me to be in fellowship. In Your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
