THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

How do we know if we are growing in our relationship with God? The only way to see if we are growing in our relationship with God is that we are bearing or producing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Jesus said that if we remain or walk with Him, we are going to bear fruit (John 15:5). As we continue to trust and follow God in our lives, we will automatically grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Casey Diaz grew up in a violent family in Los Angeles, CA. His father was very abusive to him and his mother. As a result, he grew up very angry and became a violent criminal. While he was in jail, a woman visited him once a month to have a bible study with him. Although he told the woman that he was not interested in God, the woman kept on coming once a month and kept on telling him that she was praying for him. One night as he was in his cell, he had a dream or a vision about all the specific crimes that he had done—murder and robbery. And then he saw Jesus calling his real name and showed him how He died for all his sin. At that moment, he got up from his bed, knelt down, and gave himself to the Lord. Since then, his life change. He started producing the fruit of the Spirit of God and forgave his father and eventually led him to the Lord. God continued to use his life to lead many gang members to the Lord. When we give our lives to the Lord, the Spirit of God starts to work in our hearts. As we listen and obey His leading, our lives will change and begin to start producing love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

For the days to come in our daily devotion, we will study each of the fruit of the Spirit.

Ask yourself these questions: What is the fruit of the Spirit of God? How do I know if I am growing in my relationship with the Lord? What should I do to produce the fruit of the Spirit of God in my life? Am I willing to produce the fruit of the Spirit of God in my life?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for loving me and saving me from my sin. Thank you that you are changing my life day by day. Please help me to listen and walk with you daily so that I can continue to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life. Continue to help me to grow in love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
