When Jesus died on the cross, He did not only pay the penalty of our sins, but He also replaced all the sacrificial system and became our High Priest. Before our Lord Jesus died on the cross, the priests were continually offering animals to God to deal with sin. The blood of the animals was enough to cover the sins of the people, but it wasn't powerful enough to wash away sins. Only the blood of our Lord Jesus could wash away the sins of the people. Consequently, the death of our Lord Jesus replaced the animal sacrifices. We are no longer need to offer animal sacrifices for our sins because Jesus shed His blood on the cross once and for all.
In addition to replacing the animal sacrifice with His death, He also became our living High Priest. He is better than the human priests because He can understand all our struggles and sympathize with our weaknesses. He understands when we are tempted to sin because He also experienced to be tempted by Satan in the wilderness. And even when we sin and disobey God with our actions and attitudes, Jesus can forgive us of our sins because He shed His blood on the cross to wash away our sins.
We need always to be thankful that we have a High Priest that can help us in time of our needs. We can always ask Jesus for help because He is always available for us. He is always present in our lives, and there is not a moment in time that Jesus is not in us and with us.
Ask yourself these questions: If I have direct access to my Lord Jesus, can I ask Jesus to forgive me of my sin? If Jesus forgives my sin, do I still need to confess my sin to a priest?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for understanding everything that I am going through. Thank you for being my High Priest. Thank you that I can always come to you. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In your name, I pray. Amen.
