God gave us the Bible so that we can know how to relate to Him and to live on this earth. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." The authors of the Bible, including Moses, who wrote the first five books of the Old Testament, as well as New Testament writers like Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guided them to write the Bible. It is remarkable how the 66 books of the Bible were written at different times, in various locations, and by different people, yet they all convey the same message. The Bible speaks of the same God, and it is pointing to our Lord Jesus to save us from our sins. It is through the Bible that we know that God created the world in six days and on the seventh day, God rested. In addition, the Bible explains why sin entered the world and how all human beings have fallen short of the glory of God. It shows us that sin is the source of suffering, and God sent Jesus to die for our sins and be resurrected on the third day, so that those who believe in Him are saved.

The Bible is unique compare to any books in this world. It is the only book that can show us how we should live according to the will of God. The Bible is meant to be read, studied, and applied in our lives. As believers in our Lord Jesus, we need to allow the Bible to show and teach us how to live our lives daily. Believing in the Lord Jesus is not enough for us to grow in our relationship with God. We need to live according to the Word of God. We also need to think according to the Word of God. We need to accept and own what the Bible says about abortion, life, sexual identity, and other controversial topics in our society today. We must correct our thinking by aligning our thoughts with the Word of God, regardless of how we feel, because the Word of God shows us the truth. We cannot say we believe in our Lord Jesus if we do not believe what He says in the Word of God. We cannot say we believe in God if we do not believe that the Bible is true.

Being a believer in our Lord Jesus means submitting to God's authority by living according to the teachings of the Bible. We cannot pick and choose what we can and cannot believe in the Bible. We need to accept the entire teaching of the Bible and apply it in our lives.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What do I believe about the Bible? What does God expect of me in how I should live my life? Why is it important for me to study and apply the Word of God in my life?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for your Word. Your Word has been my guide to life. Please continue to help me study and understand your Word so that I can apply it in my life. Please save me from the laziness of reading your Word daily so that I can know you more, and my faith in you is strengthened. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
