Psalm 119:145-152 says, "I pray with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will obey your decrees. I cry out to you; rescue me, that I may obey your laws. I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. I stay awake through the night, thinking about your promise. In your faithful love, O Lord, hear my cry; let me be revived by following your regulations. Lawless people are coming to attack me; they live far from your instructions. But you are near, O Lord, and all your commands are true. I have known from my earliest days that your laws will last forever." When we understand that all we have in this world is the Word of God, we will appreciate and long for His Word. The writer of this Psalm spent time with the Word of God before the sun was up, meaning he got up early to read the Word of God and allow God to speak to him before he did anything else on that day. And at night, he thought about the promises of God. As a result, he was constantly relying on God and aware of God's presence in his life. No matter what his enemies did, he remained unshaken because he was close to God through His Word.

When we realize that we have 6 months left to live, all the things in this world would not matter anymore. We will start thinking about what life is like after death, and God's Word will become more dear to us because we will be longing for God's promises. But when we think that we have many years left in this world, we tend not to long for God's Word because we are too busy with the good things of this world. Let us prioritize what really matters in this world because our time in this world is limited. If we want to do what is right, we need to spend time with the Word of God daily so that we can know God's will and live for Him. I spend time in the Word of God every morning and night, not out of obligation, but because I need His guidance. I want to be reminded of His promises each day. As a result, my heart is always sensitive to His leading, correction, rebuke, and encouragement. We spend time with the Word of God because we believe that there is no life apart from God.

Let's make it a habit to spend time with the Word of God in the morning and read a verse or two in the evening before going to bed. By doing this, we will become more aware of God's presence in our lives. This awareness will make us stronger and more stable, as we consistently connect with God through His Word.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why do I need to spend time with the Word of God in the morning and evening? What are the things that I need to change in order for me to spend time with the Word of God in the morning and evening? Am I willing to start a habit to spend time with the Word of God in the morning and evening? If yes, start today.

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me this morning how important it is to spend time with Your Word in the morning and evening. Please help me to spend time with your Word. Please give me hunger and thirst for your Word. Forgive me for not spending as much time with your Word as I should, as I get caught up in the business of life. Please help me to start a habit of spending time with Your Word in the morning and evening. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
