Having complete trust in God in our situation makes a lot of difference in our lives. Believing that God is going to take care of us in our waiting helps us to have peace in the midst of uncertainty. Have you ever met a person that seems never to worry? When everyone else is worried, they are not worried, but you can tell their confidence that everything will work out. Either they are crazy without emotions, or they have a strong faith in God. Although David was going through difficulties, his faith in God never waivered. He believed in God without a shadow of a doubt, and this was the reason He was waiting patiently for the Lord to answer his prayer, whether that would be yes, no, or to wait still. No matter what the outcome of God's answer, David would take it by faith and trust God. And this was the reason he could still tell people about the wonderful faithfulness of God to the people around him in the midst of his waiting.
David wrote, "I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly (Psalm 40:9-10)." God is always good to us, even when we feel that He is distant and does not care. Our faith in God and our feelings are not the same. Our feelings are based on our situations, but our faith in God is based on God's truth. Our feelings change, but God's truth remains forever. Let us not walk according to our feelings, but let us walk according to the truth of God. If God has been faithful in the past, He will surely take care of us now and in the future.
Let us rest in God's goodness and faithfulness in our waiting so that we may not worry and have the confidence to live in peace and proclaim the faithfulness of God to those around us.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). How does complete trust in God affect my life? Do I lean on my feelings or my faith in God in dealing with my current situation? What happens when I have complete trust in God in my waiting?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I praise and worship you for always being faithful in my life. May you please help me not to walk by my feelings but to walk according to my faith in you? I know that I am having difficulty in my waiting, but help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Please strengthen my faith that I may walk in confidence and proclaim your faithfulness to others. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
