When we understand God's goodness in our lives, we praise and glorify His name. Psalm 104 expresses how all creation depends on God's provision. Humanity cannot exist apart from Him, no matter how they feel about Him. He is the one who controls our time on this earth and supplies us with our daily food. It is true that we work and earn our wages, but God is the provider of jobs and opportunities. He is the one who sustains our health. In regard to world conflicts, His purpose and plan are still being accomplished. Proverbs 21:1 says, "The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; He guides it wherever He pleases." Every single thought and motive of every person in this world cannot escape the presence and wisdom of God. He knows it all. As a result, God has the power to prevent and allow every situation in this world, but one thing remains, He takes care of those who genuinely believe in the Lord Jesus, for they are His children. So, if God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and in control of everything, we are secure in Him in the present day and the future.
Although there are many uncertainties in this world today, God remains the strong foundation of those who trust in Him. If we realize how secure we are in God, we will have peace in our hearts and minds. We will praise and glorify His name. Psalm 104 ends with this praise, "May the glory of the Lord continue forever! The Lord takes pleasure in all he has made! The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains smoke at his touch. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Let all sinners vanish from the face of the earth; let the wicked disappear forever. Let all that I am praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 104:31-35)." We end up praising God all the time when we rely on God's provision instead of the stock market of this world. We end up praising God all the time when we trust God for our future instead of worrying about the daily political and world conflicts that we hear in the news and media outlets.
Let us trust and rest in God for our daily needs and our future. No matter what is going around us today, we are secure in God because He never stops caring for His children. May you have a blessed weekend!
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why did the Psalmist praise God at the end of Psalm 104? Do I trust God for my daily provision and future? If yes, how does that show in my daily attitude and behavior?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me that you are my ultimate provider and protector. Please help me completely trust you so that I may praise you as long as I live until my last breath. Thank you that I am forever secure in you. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
