Philippians 1:6 (Daily Devotion)

The moment we sincerely believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God started to change us to become more like our Lord Jesus. He is not changing us to become like God Himself, but He is changing our attitudes, characters, and behaviors. For example, we used to like to tell lies, cheat, and do bad things, but now we felt bad when we do bad things, or we used to not want to study the Bible and spend time with Him in prayer, but now we have the desire to spend time with Him in His word and prayer. The reason we have the desire to do good things is because God is changing us, day by day, to live in a godly life. Although the goal of our God is to change us to have a perfect and godly attitude, it doesn’t normally happen in an instant or within 24 hours, but God knows that it is a process in changing us. It takes time to teach us and change our hearts to become the person that God wants us to be, but He will continue to do it until the day when Jesus comes back to us and take us home to be with Him in heaven forever.

We are like a seed that a farmer planted in his yard. The moment a farmer plants a seed in the soil, the seed began to grow and sprout, but it is not ready to bear fruit. For example, an orange seed will not bear fruit right away, but it will take several months to continue to grow and bear oranges. In the same manner, it takes time for us to change, but God is working in our hearts. He is teaching us every day on how to live for Him, so that we can be the person that God wants us to be.

Do you feel bad every time you do bad things?

If yes, that means God is changing your life.

Do you have the desire to do good things?

If yes, that means God is changing your life.

Do you have the desire to learn more about the Bible and pray?

If yes, that means God is changing your life.

Write down your prayer request for today and ask God to help you. Thank the Lord for starting a good work in your life. Ask Him to continue to change you to become the person that God wants you to be.

Lord Jesus, thank you for starting a good work in my life. Thank you for changing me every day so that I can be the person that you want me to be. Please Lord Jesus continue to change me and give me the desire to spend time with you in knowing your Bible and prayer so that I can know you more. Help me to do the right thing and may you bless the rest of my day today. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
