MY PLACE OF SAFETY

The God who created the universe, the earth, and all living things on the earth, and humankind is the God of our safety. God alone is our eternal refuge where we can run to and be safe. When Lazarus was very sick to the point of death, Martha and Mary desperately sent word to Jesus to come and heal Lazarus. Martha and Mary didn't know where else they could turn to. They believed that Jesus could heal Lazarus if he only showed up. However, Jesus purposely stayed where he was and allowed Lazarus to die. Jesus did not allow Lazarus to cause pain and sorrow, but He allowed it to show His power over death. When Jesus finally showed up, the body of Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Jesus ordered to open the tomb and called Lazarus to come out, and Lazarus came out alive.

In the story of Lazarus, we learn that our Lord Jesus has power over life and death. He created life from the beginning with the Father in Heaven and the Holy Spirit, and in this story of Lazarus, He raised Lazarus from the dead. If our Lord Jesus has power over life and death, He is our ultimate refuge, a place of safety. We may feel our situations can be too much to bear and ready to give up, but let us look up to our Lord Jesus. When the storm of life comes barreling on us, and our ship is about to break, we can run to our Lord Jesus for safety. He can shelter us with His peace and comfort us with His loving arms.

We are God's children, and God promised He would take care of us forever. Everything that is going on in our lives today is all temporary. God will take care of us no matter what happens, even when we are too weak to believe. He will carry us through because our Lord Jesus is our place of safety. Let us continue to trust in Him, and the storm of life will soon pass, and we will still be standing because our God is our refuge.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Who is my place of safety? What does God promise me as I go through difficult situations in my life? What should I do to enter the place of the safety of God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, You are my place of safety. I thank you for your promise never to leave or forsake me. You know everything that is going on in my life. You know the difficulties that I am going through. Please help me to go through it. Please give me provision, guidance, wisdom, and courage to go through it, for you are my refuge, a place of safety. Strengthen my faith and lead me on. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
