KING DAVID TRUSTED GOD

When King David's son, Absalom, deceitfully took the kingdom away from his father, David fled with his officials and servants from his palace in Jerusalem. Many people came against David during this time and sided with his son, Absalom. David prayed this prayer in Psalms 3:1-2, "O Lord, I have so many enemies; so many are against me. So many are saying, "God will never rescue him!" Despite the overwhelming discouragement and threats, David prayed and trusted God in his desperate situation. He prayed, "But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy mountain." Because David trusted God, he became confident that God would care for him. He said, "I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side." (Psalms 3:5-6).

King David is a great example for all of us that we can trust God in our desperate situations. When David did not know where to turn to for safety, he turned to God. In his helpless situation, he looked to God for comfort. As a result, he regained his peace and confidence. No matter what we are going through, God never abandons us. Our God is always with us, and He listens to our prayers. When our A/C broke and needed to be replaced last week, I was desperate to look for an affordable new A/C. It was difficult for Linda and me because it was almost 100 degrees inside our house. As I cried out to God for help and wisdom, He guided me to a small company that gave us an affordable new A/C unit. God sustained and provided for our needs.

King David eventually regained his kingdom back from his son, Absalom. We can trust God in every desperate situation. David relied on God when he fled for his life, and God took care of him. Let us do the same today. Let us rely on God in every situation that we are in today.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) What should I do in desperate situations? What can I learn from King David's experience? Do I trust God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for King David's testimony. Please help me to trust you in my desperate situation. You know everything that is going on in my life. You know all my struggles and fears. Please help me to trust in you completely. I believe that you love and care for me. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
