JESUS WAS BORN TO SAVE US

The time came when Mary gave birth to her firstborn son, Jesus. She wrapped Jesus snugly in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. Although Jesus was the Savior, God, and King, He was not born in a palace, a beautiful home, or a comfortable place, but he was born where the animals sleep and eat. It would have been easy for our God the Father, who created the universe and the earth, to have Jesus born in a place of luxury and comfort. However, He chose to have Him born in a stable, among the animals. Why would God the Father allow Jesus to be born in a stable? Did He care? The reason our God the Father chose Jesus to be born in a stable is that Jesus came into the world not to be comfortable, but He came as a Savior. He did not come as a physical king, although He is the King, but He came as a Servant who would offer up Himself on the cross for our forgiveness. However, on his second coming, He would come as the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Jesus was born not for Himself, but for us. He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 10:19). According to Colossians 1:17, Jesus holds all things together, meaning Jesus maintains the existence, order, and integrity of the entire universe. In the snap of a finger, Jesus could make everything disappear as if nothing existed. Jesus owns everything, yet he was born into a poor family. The reason God the Father chose Jesus to be born in a lowly family because He wanted Jesus to relate with anyone in this world. Rich and poor are welcome to Jesus. The criteria to be accepted by Jesus are not through our possessions and status, but through our faith in Him. We are all saved not because of what we can give or do for our Lord Jesus, but we are saved because we trusted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Jesus came as a poor child, but He gave us eternal life and made us citizens of Heaven, where the streets are made out of gold. Jesus was born in an uncomfortable place, but He has been preparing a mansion for us in Heaven.

Jesus came to save and give us a new life in Him. Christmas is when all the wonderful plans of God for us came to be. Jesus was born for us, and not for Himself. I hope and pray that we will know how much God loves us and how much we matter to Him. Jesus did not give us gifts of boxes, but He gave us His very life, so that we may live a new life.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why was Jesus born in a stable where animals stay, although He was the Savior, God, and King? How do I feel knowing that Jesus was born for me? How should I celebrate Christmas knowing that Jesus was born for me?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I am loved knowing that Jesus was born for me. He was born to give me a new life. Please help me to celebrate Christmas by praising and worshiping my Lord Jesus for coming to this world to save me. Please remind all of us how much you love us this Christmas. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
