John 1:1-4 says, "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone." According to Genesis 1, God created everything in the heavens and the earth through His Word. When God said, "Let there be light," the light came to be (Genesis 1:3). When God said, "Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind," all kinds of fish and birds came to be (Genesis 1:20). Everything that exists in this world is created by God through His Word. Then in John 1:14, it says, "So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness." The Word in the verses that are mentioned refers to our Lord Jesus. Our God the Father created everything through His Word, which is our Lord Jesus.

When our Lord Jesus came into this world, He spoke the will of our Heavenly Father. In the same manner, everything that the Old Testament writers wrote was the message of God. God gave them Words to write so that the people of this world would know Him and His ways. Because the entire Bible is the Word of God, as believers of our Lord Jesus, we must live according to it. Our Lord Jesus Christ came to bring life to us, so as the Word of God. We need to understand the world through the Word of God because God is the source of truth, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. We must follow what the Word of God says instead of following what the world says about how we should live our lives. We must align every belief we accept with the Word of God to walk in His will. If we are not walking in the will of God, then we are sinning. We must repent and turn to His will.

God loves us so much that He gave us His Word so that we can know Him and walk in His will. Our Lord Jesus came into this world to reveal to us our Heavenly Father so that we may follow and worship Him.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who was the Word that John 1 refers to? Why is it important to align every belief that we have with the Word of God? What happens when we are not walking in the will of God?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for giving us the Bible, for it is through your Word that I can know your will. Please help me accept everything that your Word says and align everything that I believe with it. As I am being challenged with many current issues today, please help me to respond according to your Word. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
