Psalm 110:1-3 says, "The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.' The Lord will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem; you will rule over your enemies. When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew." Many Bible scholars believe that David wrote Psalm 110, and it refers to the coming King, our Lord Jesus. Psalm 110 was written at least 400 years before Jesus came into the world. The key to understanding Psalm 110 is to understand the beginning of the statement of this Psalm, which says, "The Lord said to my Lord." "The Lord" refers to God the Father, and "my Lord" refers to David's master, who is none other than Jesus Christ. To put the statement in another way, God the Father said to our Lord Jesus Christ to sit in the place of honor at His right hand.

When Jesus was born, He was born as a savior to save us from our sins through His death on the cross and His resurrection. After His resurrection, Jesus ascended back to Heaven and is now sitting at the right hand of our Heavenly Father, praying for us. When He returns to this earth, He will reign as the King of Kings, and everyone, including His enemies, will humble themselves and submit to His authority. He will not reign as tyrant or a dictator, but He will reign with justice and righteousness. He will restore this world and bring good governance that will bring peace to the entire world. All corruption in the government will cease. There will not be world conflicts or rumors of war. Every nation will destroy all its weapons and work diligently as good citizens in their countries. Today, all of us are longing for a perfect government that brings true peace in this world, but our Lord Jesus is the only can bring the long-lasting peace that we are searching for. Psalm 110 gives us hope for the future. We experience hardship today because of all the political decisions that are being made by our leaders in the government, but there will be a time when our Lord Jesus, Himself, will rule this world and bring peace.

Let us not lose hope, for our Lord Jesus is coming soon and will reign in this world. Let us keep on trusting our Lord Jesus, and He will carry us through this life. We also have our Heavenly Father who watches over us and cares for us. Let us continue to keep our faith in our God.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who is the only one who can bring world peace? When will Jesus bring peace to this world? In the meantime, where can I find hope, and how should I live my life?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I praise you for the hope that I have in you. Although this world that I am living in is a mess, I have hope that when my Lord Jesus returns to this world, He will make everything right. Please help me to fix my eyes on you and keep on following your ways and trusting you completely. Please guide me and give me wisdom on how to respond to the daily challenges that I face in this world. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
