INNER BEAUTY

Physical attraction has been very confusing to a lot of people. In today's entertainment and social media, it seems that attraction is mainly based on physical appearance. People need to dress a certain way in order for them to be noticed and desired. However, it brings a lot of false sense of self-value. It is true that we need to dress nicely to present ourselves, but not to dress sexually provocative. If we try to attract people with our bodies, we may be accepted and liked by people, but it will be superficial. They will only like us because of our bodies, and not as a person. Many women fell for this false self-value. As a result, they have gone through painful relationships.

The apostle Peter is encouraging the women that their beauty should not come from outward adornment, but instead, it should come from their inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. The apostle Peter does not advocate that women should not dress nicely and modestly, but he advocates that women should not be obsessed with fashion and beauty, for there is no amount of make-up or dress style that can replace a women's character. So how do women dress modestly? If you are a woman, ask yourself these questions: does my dress outfit sexually provocative? Does the way I dress too revealing?

God created us with so much more than our physical appearance. God created us with natural beauty that reflects His love. No matter how we look physically, we are beautiful in God's eyes. We should not allow the entertainment and social media to dictate how we should dress, but rather we need to dress according to how God wants us to handle ourselves. God wants us to handle ourselves modestly with godly character. When we live our lives according to His ways, God blesses us and gives us the desires of our hearts.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I focus more on godly character or physical appearance? Do I want to be accepted and liked by my physical appearance or by my character? What happens if I am only like by my physical appearance and not as a person?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you have created with a natural beauty that reflects your love. I know that no matter how the world looks at me, I am beautiful and important to you. Please help me dress worthy of your praise and develop a beautiful character that will never fade away. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
