Psalm 119:121-128 says, "Don't leave me to the mercy of my enemies, for I have done what is just and right. Please guarantee a blessing for me. Don't let the arrogant oppress me! My eyes strain to see your rescue, to see the truth of your promise fulfilled. I am your servant; deal with me in unfailing love, and teach me your decrees. Give discernment to me, your servant; then I will understand your laws. Lord, it is time for you to act, for these evil people have violated your instructions. Truly, I love your commands more than gold, even the finest gold. Each of your commandments is right. That is why I hate every false way." We need to know who we are as a person. We need to know our identity before God and others. We are God's servants. We live to serve our God. The more we embrace that we are God's servants, the more we will be secure in life because everything that we do will be based on our relationship with God. When people think of being a servant, they think of having a lowly position in society. However, in God's view of being a servant, it is the highest and most prestigious position in all existence because we are serving the Most High God. We are serving the One who created and owns everything in this world and the universe. Serving God is higher than the boss that we serve in our companies and organizations.

Being servants of the Most High God, it means that we surrender our lives to Him to advance His purposes in this world. Therefore, we treasure and love His commandments, instructions, and promises found in our Bible. God created us to worship, serve, and enjoy our loving fellowship with Him. One of the ways to serve God is to serve Him where we are in life. We can serve Him in our current situations, no matter how difficult it may be. If we do not know how, we need to ask God how He wants us to serve Him in our current situation. A good question to ask today is, "How can I serve God in my current situation, such as at work, school, home, or wherever I am? Let us not be afraid or worry to serve God in every situation that we are in because God will take care of all our concerns as we serve Him. The more we focus our attention on God, the smaller our difficulties become. The more we focus our attention on our problems, the more we will be overwhelmed by them.

God has all the solutions to our problems. It is our God who takes care of us and solves our problems, but we must focus ourselves on Him and serve Him faithfully. Our identity belongs to God, and we are His servants.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) How do I serve God in my current situation? Do I identify who I am as God's servant? How should I live my life as a servant of God?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I am your servant, and you are my God and Savior. I live to worship, serve, and enjoy your loving presence. Please give me a willing heart to serve you. Please teach and show me how I can serve you in my current situation. Thank you for taking care of all my concerns and providing for all my needs. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
