As Jesus was walking with His disciples, they passed by a man who was born blind. Jesus told His disciples that the reason the man was born blind was that God's works should be revealed through him. Jesus approached the man, spat on the ground and made clay with His saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. Then Jesus told him to go to the pool of Siloam and washed his eyes there. After the man washed his eyes in Siloam's pool, he was able to see for the first time in his life. The crowd and the Pharisees noticed him, and they were surprised that He could see. The man told them what had happened, but they did not want to believe him. The Pharisees tried to discredit Jesus that He was from God because He healed the man during the Sabbath day. Eventually, the Pharisees kicked out the man from their sight because he believed that Jesus was from God. Jesus then revealed Himself to the man, and the man believed in Jesus.
Can you imagine being born blind? You can hear things around you, but you cannot see. You listen to people appreciate the colors that they see and the things that they watch, but you cannot relate because you cannot see. Worst yet, you cannot get a regular job because no one can hire you because of your condition, so you ended up begging for money. This is precisely what happened to the man who was born blind in the story. So when Jesus healed him, he received a brand new life, as if he was born again. But the most important part of his story is that he was saved from his sin because he believed in Jesus.
Jesus came to save us from our sins. Although we are not physically blind like the man born blind, we are spiritually blind. We cannot see the truth; as a result, we are lost and do not know God's ways. However, because of God's grace and mercy, He opened our eyes to see the truth. Jesus came to give us a brand new life in Him. When the man was still blind, he could only see darkness, but when Jesus opened his eyes, he began to see the light. Let us continue to be thankful and worship our Lord for what He has done in our lives.
Ask yourself these questions: What should be my response to God's goodness in my life? Since Jesus gave me a brand new life in Him, how should I live my life?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
