Revelation 21:5 says, "He (God) who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then he said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'" People today from all over the world are looking for peace and joy. We all long for a place where there is no more conflict, sickness, death, and sorrow. Sadly, we will never experience complete peace and joy on this earth because this world is affected and polluted by sin. Injustices and corruption happen because of a sinful heart. We sin, make wrong decisions, and make mistakes because we have a fallen nature that is affected by sin. We age, get sick, and eventually die because our current body is not meant to exist forever because of the effect of sin. We want to stay in the wonderful things of the past, but we can't because life keeps on moving forward whether we accept it or not. Our lives are constantly changing. As a result, we keep on adjusting. Some would ask, "When are all these things going to end?" The answer to this question is, "Yes, there will be a time when all sufferings in this world will stop because God will make everything new."

Revelation 21:1-2 says, "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband." When God makes everything new, all of our suffering in this world stops. We will then experience the joy and peace that we have been longing for, and it will not be a temporary experience, but an eternal experience. All injustices and corruption will end. We will be in the very presence of the holiness of God. We will see our Lord Jesus face to face and be in the very presence of our Heavenly Father. We will meet many people who have believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior from around the world, and we will also be reunited with our believing family members who have gone before us to Heaven. Infants, as well as those who cannot discern right from wrong due to disabilities, will find peace and love in Heaven. There will never be separation in Heaven. Let us persevere in our faith in our Lord Jesus because He will make things new soon. In our struggles and suffering, let us continue to persevere in our faith in our Lord Jesus.

Let us never give up. Let us continue to fix our eyes on our Lord Jesus and follow His ways. As we wait for the second coming of our Lord Jesus, our Heavenly Father is with us, caring for us and loving us with His unfailing love.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What will happen when my Lord Jesus returns to this world? How should I live my life while I wait for the return of my Lord Jesus? How do I feel knowing that all my current struggles are only temporary?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, please help me to persevere in my faith and follow your ways while I wait for your return. When in doubt, please help me to trust in your promises and never forget the wonderful future that is ahead of me. May I serve you and continue to worship you with my life. Thank you for caring for me and loving me with your unfailing love. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
