Psalm 119:137-144 says, "O Lord, you are righteous, and your regulations are fair. Your laws are perfect and completely trustworthy. I am overwhelmed with indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words. Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much. I am insignificant and despised, but I don't forget your commandments. Your justice is eternal, and your instructions are perfectly true. As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands. Your laws are always right; help me to understand them so I may live." God's Word is rooted in His righteousness. Every word in the Bible relates to the righteousness of our God. As a result, we can trust God's Word because it is just, perfect, and fair. The Word of God must have a final say in how we live our lives if we truly believe that God is for us and not against us. It is the Word of God that gives us the right perspective on how to deal with the different issues that we encounter. We must filter our thinking through the Word of God because God's justice is eternal.
There will come a time when we will stand before God to answer for how we lived our lives on this earth and whether we followed His Word. Ultimately, it's about living out God's Word, not just how we wish to live. God's Word is always right, no matter what people on social media or the news say. God's instructions lead us to peace and joy, especially when the pressure and stress of life bear down on us. There are so many moments in my life when I felt defeated and discouraged because of the mistakes that I have made, but when God reminded me of His grace, mercy, and love through His Word, I felt rejuvenated and encouraged. It helped me to stand back up and continue to live according to His Word. We need to understand God's Word so that we may live. This world that we are living in thinks that it has the answers to life, but only the Word of God can give us the answers to life, for God is the one who created life.
Let the teachings of God shape our minds and hearts rather than the fleeting messages of social media. Let the Word of God guide our decisions instead of our feelings. May the Word of God guide our path and light our ways every day.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important for me to listen to God's Word daily? Do I trust the Word of God? Am I allowing God to speak to me through my Bible?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, Your Word is perfect because you are perfect. Your Word is righteous because you are righteous. Please help me to spend time with your Word so that you can renew my mind. Please help me to understand your Word so that I may live according to your will. Do not let me waste my life by living my own way. Instead, help me to get the best out of life by living your way. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
