GOD'S WORD IS TIMELESS

Psalm 119:89-96 says, "Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in heaven. Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created. Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves your plans. If your instructions hadn't sustained me with joy, I would have died in my misery. I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life. I am yours; rescue me! For I have worked hard at obeying your commandments. Though the wicked hide along the way to kill me, I will quietly keep my mind on your laws. Even perfection has its limits, but your commands have no limit." We live in an environment that is constantly changing. Time is constantly moving forward, as are the days, months, and years. We were once young, but now we have aged. Societies have also changed because people have changed. However, God's Word remains the same. God's truth is the same as God spoke it in the very beginning. Our God never changes because He exists outside of our time. As a result, His commandments, instructions, and promises remain the same no matter how we change. God created everything in the beginning to serve His plans and purposes, and not for our plans and purposes. We are meant to follow His plans and purposes in our lives, instead of ours.

The issue with society today is its belief that it knows better than God. As a result, it wants to live outside the plans and purposes of God. It only believes that God is the Savior, but not the Lord who needs to be followed and obeyed. Christians, who professed that Jesus is both the Savior and Lord, must live for God and trust in His Word. His Word gives us life, hope, and joy. No matter what our society teaches us, we need to follow God's instructions from His Word, and this is the reason we need to know God's Word. The society that we are in teaches that we need to live for ourselves and do whatever pleases us, but the Word of God teaches us that we need to live for God and do whatever pleases Him. We, as Christians, rely on God in everything that we do. We do not allow society to shape our views about God since it does not understand Him according to the Bible's teachings. We only describe God from what our Bible says, for God never contradicts His Word.

We need to stand on God's Word, for it is eternal and never changes. It is our firm foundation of life. No matter how we or society changes, God remains the same, and His Word stands forever.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why did God create me? Describe any teachings, thoughts, or views that our society holds that contradict God's Word? Do you follow God's Word over any teachings and views that society holds? Why?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, Your Word is eternal, and it gives me life. Please help me to prioritize your Word in my life so that I can be grounded in you. Please help me to read your Word daily. May your Word constantly influence my mind and heart that I may walk in your truth and trust you completely. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
