Psalm 119:97-104 says, "Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide. Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws. I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments. I have refused to walk on any evil path, so that I may remain obedient to your word. I haven't turned away from your regulations, for you have taught me well. How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life." When we believe and understand that the Bible is the Word of God, and God gave it to us to give us instructions and guidance, we will have the love and desire to follow it. For us who spend time reading our Bible every day, we are aware of God's promises and expectations on how we should live. As a result, we are wiser than those who do not believe in the Word of God because we know the truth about life. We know that the meaning of life is to live for God in everything that we do.

Many people who reject the Bible as the Word of God end up believing many lies and false teachings. They end up believing that there is no God or have a false understanding of who God is. For example, many people believe that humankind evolved from apes. The universe came into existence through an explosion in space, and everything came to be. Evolution and the Big Bang Theory all came from humans' understanding, but everything that we believe and know about the origin of humankind and our universe came from the Word of God. If the Word of God gave us the truth about how we came to be, then the Word of God gives us instructions about how we should live our lives, such as in the areas of abortion, gender issues, marriage, and sexuality. We understand what is acceptable to God and what is sin. So, if we want to live with meaning and purpose, we must follow what the Bible says because it is the Word of God. Our Bible guides us to all truth and life. Many self-help books exist, but only God truly provides answers to life, and He guides us with His Word for understanding.

May God give us the desire and love to read our Bible. There is so much God wants to show and teach us. He loves us so much that He wants to guide us to the right path and give us understanding about Himself and us through His Word.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Do I believe that my Bible is the Word of God? Why did God give me a Bible? Give a specific reason why I need to follow God's Word.

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for giving me a Bible. Please give me the desire and love to read your Word every day so that I am always aware of your ways and can follow them. Protect my mind from false teaching and lies that Satan sows in the minds of people who reject you and your Word. Please guide me today with your truth in everything that I do. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
