GOD'S WORD IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE

In the wake of what is happening in our world today, it is more important than ever to stand for what is right. While we are facing conflicting ideologies and views about God and life, we need to embrace what the Word of God says as Christians, because, ultimately, God determines what is right and wrong, regardless of how we feel and think. The choice is ours: we can choose to embrace and submit to God's Word, or we can turn away from it. The decision carries profound implications for our lives. Sadly, many professing Christians try to be in the middle between the thinking and reasoning of this world and what our God says in the Bible. If the thinking and reasoning of this world benefit or support what they want, they will accept the thinking and reasoning of this world. As a result, they can never completely trust God because they are still relying on the things of this world. Jesus said, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4)."

What Jesus is teaching us is that we can have all the things of this world that provide comfort and everything we need to exist, such as food, shelter, and clothes. However, Jesus is the provider of life. Nothing exists apart from His will. Jesus is saying that having things of this world, such as food, is not enough to support our life, because it is God who ultimately controls our existence. We cannot live tomorrow without God allowing it. We may win an argument over another person about how we think about life, God, and social issues, such as abortion, homosexuality, gender, parents' rights, immigration, etc., but in the end, we need to examine our thinking about these matters with what the Word of God says, because in the end, we will answer to Him. We'd rather be wrong in front of people than be wrong in front of God. As Christians, we must uphold what God's Word says, because it is the source of God's truth.

People may dislike or even hate us when we stand for God's truth, but we'd rather please God than people who do not believe in God's Word. Isaiah 40:8 says, "The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important to completely trust in the Word of God? Who is the source of absolute truth? Examine your position in God, life, and social issues, and compare them with what God is saying about them. Which one am I accepting?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I exist because you sustain my life. Thank you for reminding me today that it is important to embrace your Word, because it leads me to life and truth. Please help me filter my thoughts through your Word, so that I can walk in your truth and not in the lies of this world. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
