GOD'S WORD IS PERFECT

The second part of Psalm 19 talks about the perfection of God's Word. When we speak of God's Word, we refer to our Bible. The Bible teaches us the ways of God. It describes God's laws and instructions. David wrote, "The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living." David admitted that the instructions and the decrees (laws) of God are beneficial to his life. Our sinful nature wants us to do our own thing. We tend to do what we want, regardless of what God says. However, when we walk in our own ways and disregard God's way, we will end up hurting ourselves, leading ourselves to places we do not want to go, or doing things we will regret later. If we want to bring joy to our hearts, we need to follow God's instructions through His Word.

The Law of God is trustworthy. We can trust God's Word because it is perfect. The Word of God leads us to a fulfilling life. Everybody strives to have a good life with joy and peace. Many seek a good life through the material things of this world, relationships, and careers. However, they are still not satisfied. Only God can satisfy the longing of our souls because He created us for Himself. We can only find our satisfaction in our God. And His Word instructs us on how we can live in satisfaction. David became a successful king because he prioritized God's Word in his life. We can do the same.

If we want a good life, we need to listen to God's instructions, as found in the Bible. The Word of God does not limit us from opportunities but opens the door for more opportunities than we can ever imagine. We can trust God's Word because it is perfect. It leads us to life.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Do I trust God's instructions? Why is it important for me to follow God's instructions and commands? Am I willing to prioritize God's Word in my life?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, Your Word is perfect. Thank you for providing me with a Bible. Would you please help me to listen and obey your instructions? Please guard my heart from rebelling against you. I need to prioritize Your Word in my life so that You can guide me to the right path. Please give me the hunger to read and study Your Word. In your name, Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen.
