GOD'S TRUTH IS ABOVE ALL TRUTH

One of the truths about God is that He is above all His creation, including us as humans. God determines the truth and the right way, and some people cannot accept this truth. They feel like God should be inclusive and acceptable because of His great love, mercy, and grace. God should be able to listen and bless people, regardless of how they choose to live their lives. But this is not the case in the time of Noah. God judged the world because of their sinful lifestyle. It is either His truth and ways, or no truth exists at all. God gave us His Word so that we can understand His truth and become familiar with His ways. This is why it is important to read our Bible daily: to be reminded of and to learn His truth. Many objections that I hear about the Word of God are about its interpretation. The reason there are many bad interpretations out there is that those who try to interpret the Word of God do not study the Word of God properly. They selectively believe only parts of the Word of God and do not study the entirety from Genesis to Revelation. They want to support their own ideas, instead of letting the Word of God reveal what God is saying through His Word. In the end, they will be in shock and absolute fear when they stand before God to be judged because they have been rejecting the truth of the Word of God. 

There is another major judgment of God that took place after Noah's flood. After the universal flood, humans repopulated the earth from Noah and his family, which consisted of eight people. All humans lived together in one place and shared the same language, culture, and customs, and supposedly followed Noah's faith in God. However, humans strayed away from God's truth again and followed their own ways. Here's what they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth" (Genesis 11:4). Their decision was contrary to what God told Noah, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth..." (Genesis 9:1). All humans decided to ignore God's commandments; as a result, God scattered them by confusing their language. We are going to talk more about the Tower of Babel this week. But I want us to understand an important truth about God: His truth and ways are fixed according to His holy character. We can choose to accept His truth and follow it or continue walking in our own ways. 

God's truth always leads to eternal life, but our ways apart from God's truth always lead to disaster, death, and judgment. May we follow God's truth only and walk in His ways. Let us examine all our beliefs and align them with God's Word so that we can walk in His ways and find life. 

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important for me to know God's truth? Why is it important for me to obey God? What happens when I disobey God's truth?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, you are the creator of everything. I exist because you created me. You are above all your creation. Your truth is above all truths, and your ways are higher than any other ways. Please help me to yield all my beliefs to your truth and choose to walk in your ways. Please give me the desire to read and study your Word so that I may know them. Please help me to make time to read your Word and follow it. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
